Reformist Bloc's Kuneva:Plevneliev's Nomination Is Attempt to Destroy Bloc
Rousse, on the Danube, May 14 (BTA) - Meglena Kuneva has accused fellow Reformist Bloc leader Radan Kanev of engaging in "a heavy political intrigue". On Friday Kanev, urged all pro-European forces in the country to back President Rosen Plevneliev for a second term as an independent candidate.
Kuneva's Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement and Kanev's Democrats for Strong Bulgaria are partners in the Reformist Bloc, a junior partner in the government coalition.
Kuneva said that the real target was the Reformist Bloc. "If somebody wanted to destroy the Reformist Bloc, then it was a step in the right direction," she said.
She said it was important for the Reformist Bloc to be united and she was doing everything to do that. "The Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement won't change its conduct, we won't engaged in intrigues and play with hatred and the fate of our country."
Following Kanev's call on Friday, the President put out a statement that he would announce whether he will seek reelection at the end of June and that Kanev's nomination hadn't been cleared with him.
