PM Redistributes Competence of  His Deputies

Sofia, February 22 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has redistributed the areas of competence of his deputies following the appointment of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of EU affairs and institutional matters, Meglena Kuneva, as Minister of Education and Science, said the government press office Monday.

Kuneva will be in charge of coordinating the work of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, of Justice and of Defence, as well as the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision, the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, the Nuclear Regulation Agency, the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation, the Patent Office and the Centre for Prevention and Countering Corruption and Organized Crime.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the coalition policy and state administration and Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova will be responsible for coordinating the work of the Ministry of Culture, of Health, of Youth and Sport. She will also be in charge of the Archives Agency, the State Agency for Refugees, the Commission for Regulation of Communications and the National Statistical Institute.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the EU funding and the economic policy Tomislav Donchev will coordinate the work of the Ministries of Finance, of Regional Development and Public Works, of Economy, of Energy, of Transport, IT and COmmunications, of Agriculture and Foods and of Environment and Water. He will also be responsible for the Contingency Reserve Agency, the energy and water regulator, the State Commission for Stock Exchanges and Wholesale Markets and the Agency for Privatization and Post-Privatization Control.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the demographic and social policy and Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Ivaylo Kalfin, will be responsible for the State Agency for Child Protection, the National Compensation Housing Fund and the National Agency for Vocational Training.

Prime Minister Borissov remains in charge of the State Agency for National Security, the State Intelligence Agency, State Agency for Technical Operations and the State Commission for Information Security.
