Bulgarians Stefan-Alexander Kumurdjiev and Assen Gyurov reached the quarterfinals of the 1500m at the World Junior Short Track Championships, which started in Calgary (Canada).

In the series, Gyurov took fourth in heat four with a time of 2:19.515, while Kumurdjiev was fourth in heat seven with 2:22.618. In the next phase, Gyurov finished fifth in heat six with 2:24.925 minutes and Kumurdjiev finished sixth in heat four with 3:01.776. Thus, they participated in the repechages.

The world championships in Calgary will continue until Sunday.
