The weather in the mountains is sunny and cold, with temperatures ranging from minus 10C to minus 15C, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA on Tuesday. The MRS warned of frostbite risks and icy trails.
Lift facilities in the ski resorts are operational.
Hikers are advised to follow marked trails and be equipped with crampons.
No incidents with hikers have been reported in the past 24 hours.
According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, there will be moderate east-northeasterly wind in the mountains on Tuesday, with temporarily strong northerly wind at higher elevations. Highs: around minus 2C at 1,200 metres, around minus 7C at 2,000 metres.
