Economy Minister Discusses Positioning Bulgaria as Investment Destination with AmCham CEO

Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov and American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) CEO Ivan Mihaylov met Friday to discuss positioning Bulgaria as investment destination for American companies and expanding cooperation on trade, the Economy Ministry said.

The two discussed the opportunities for attracting American investors to the country, as well as for expanding the activities of companies already positioned in Bulgaria.

Dilov stressed that the US is an important partner and that active efforts will be made to develop bilateral trade and economic ties.

He added that the US market is among the main export destinations for the realization of Bulgarian products from the high-tech spectrum.

The Economy Minister pointed out that for the period January-October 2024 Bulgaria's trade with the US amounted to USD 1.4 billion. It was noted at the meeting that Bulgarian exports for the first ten months of 2024 amounted to just over USD 1 billion.

During the talks, the two sides stressed that industry, trade, energy and high-tech industries remain among the priority sectors for expanding bilateral cooperation.

They also discussed joint initiatives to help boost the partnership, such as organizing business missions regional initiatives and cross-border cooperation forums. 

Mihaylov pointed out that the Economy Ministry is an important partner of AmCham in the relations between Bulgaria and the US for the development of trade and economic relations.
