Taxi drivers will stage a protest in front of Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport from 12:30pm Friday. They are discontent with a new controlled access system introduced by SOF Connect, the operator of Sofia Airport, from January 9, BTA learned from Krasimir Tsvetkov, President of the National Taxi Trade Union.
Taxi drivers object to the rule that the minimum time between two free-of-charge entries is 60 minutes, which reflects on customers and service quality. The protest has been cleared with City Hall and the Sofia Directorate of the Interior, Tsvetkov said.
Sofia Airport advised departing passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight on Friday and to use the metro for easier and guaranteed access. If arriving by car, passengers should use the park-and-ride facilities near Inter Expo Center metro station and be prepared to walk about 1 km because of possible street blockage.
Arriving passengers are advised to use the metro and to ask friends and relatives to meet them at the nearest metro station instead of at the airport.
As of January 9, every person who wants to reach Terminal 2 by car passes through barrier systems that register car numbers.
