General government’s gross external debt totalled EUR 13.0425 billion (12.7% of GDP) at end-November 2024, growing by EUR 2.2857 billion (21.2%) from the same period in 2023, when it totalled EUR 10.7568 billion or 11.4% of GDP, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Thursday.
Gross external debt amounted to EUR 47.6892 billion (46.6% of GDP) at end-November 2024, growing by EUR 3.8641 billion or 8.8% from end-November 2023.
Short-term liabilities totalled EUR 8.1428 billion, equivalent to 17.1% of the total debt or 8% of GDP, growing by EUR 679.4 million or by 9.1% from end-November 2023. Long-term liabilities totalled EUR 39.5464 billion, equivalent to 82.9% of the total debt or 38.6% of GDP, at end-November 2024, growing by EUR 3.1847 billion or 8.8% from end-November 2023.
The external liabilities of the central bank stood at EUR 2.0802 billion (2% of GDP), growing by EUR 24.4 million (1.2%) from end-November 2023.
The external liabilities of other MFIs totalled EUR 6.686 billion or 6.5% of GDP, growing by EUR 982.4 million (17.2%) from end-November 2023.
The external liabilities of other monetary financial institutions totalled EUR 6.686 billion or 6.5% of GDP, growing by EUR 982.4 million (17.2%) from end-November 2023.
Other sectors’ external debt totalled EUR 12.5706 billion or 12.3% of GDP, increasing by EUR 509.6 million (4.2%) from end-November 2023.
The stock of intercompany lending amounted to EUR 13.3099 billion (13% of GDP) at end-November 2024, increasing by EUR 61.9 million (0.5%) from end-November 2023. It held the largest share in external debt, equating to 27.9% at end-November 2024, compared with 30.2% in end-November 2023.
