The Finance Ministry is making calculations on how to pay BGN 100 Christmas supplements to pensions, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at Wednesday's cabinet meeting.

"We will meet our obligations and will submit a budget with a 3% deficit so that we can continue what we have planned and join the euro area", Glavchev said, without specifying when the bill will be submitted.

The Prime Minister added that his cabinet has submitted 12 bills to the 51st National Assembly, four of which on tax laws. "Anyone who deals with the budget knows that the tax laws, which are the basis for adopting a budget, are adopted first", he stressed.

Dimitar Glavchev assured that there will be no increase in the basic tax rates in the main tax laws. "Income increases are foreseen as promised," he said.

"The covid supplement will continue to be included in pensions. They will be updated according to the Swiss rule," Glavchev also assured, adding that measures are being taken to eliminate the hole in the budget that has been standing since 2023. He elaborated that the caretaker government is implementing the budget adopted by the previous government with Finance Minister Assen Vassilev.

The caretaker Prime Minister announced that the cabinet will consider and vote on BGN 95 million for compensation of victims of disasters - hailstorms, floods and fires, as well as funds for the children's hospital in Burgas.
