site.btaCentral Bank Sets Base Interest Rate at 3.63% as of July 1

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Friday announced a base interest rate (simple per annum interest) of 3.63% as of July 1, 2024. This is 0.15 percentage points down on June when the base interest was 3.78%.

The base interest of 3.78% was effective as of May 1, 2024. In April, the base rate was 3.79%. It peaked at 3.80% in March, the highest since the zero interest rate of the last few years. In January and February 2024 it was 3.79%.

From February 2016 until the end of September 2022, the base interest rate was 0.00%. In October 2022 it went up to 0.49%.

A year ago, in July 2023, the base interest was 3.12%.
