Bulgargaz EAD will be holding again tenders for the provision of services for regasification, storage and transmission of LNG to Bulgaria virtual trading point, and for partial transfer of rights and obligations under a Framework Agreement signed with the Turkish company BOTAS, the national gas supplier said in a press release Tuesday.

In the framework of the tenders held in May 2024, 6 gas companies, among them international, regional and local ones, expressed interest in participation, but none of them has submitted binding offers.

Because of that, Bulgargaz has decided to repeat the tendering procedures and, in order to successfully implement the capacities reserved under the BOTAS agreement, to expand the time products offered, taking into account the interest that would arise as transmission of Russian natural gas to Europe via Ukraine is terminated at the beginning of 2025.

Also, in order to attract heightened interest, the starting price will be lowered from what it was in the May tender procedure.

To qualify, potential bidders are required to use the capacity for gas sourced in countries without sanctions, embargoes or any trade restrictions. The ownership of the participating companies must be clear, reputable and financially secure.
