Police officers from Haskovo seized branded goods at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing on Monday, the Interior Ministry said. Together with officers from the police in Svilengrad they inspected a bus, driven by a 21-year old Turkish national.
In the luggage they found 3,740 items, including perfumes, sports shoes and textiles with trademark logos without the owner’s permission. Pretrial proceedings have been opened into the case.
Counterfeit trademark goods are popular in the region of Haskovo, where they are mainly imported from neighbouring Turkiye. The most popular items are textiles, shoes, bags and perfumes, according to data of the Interior Ministry and Customs Agency.
