site.btaIrrigation Systems EAD Becomes Beneficiary under Rural Development Programme for First Time

For the first time, Irrigation Systems EAD has become a beneficiary under the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme, said the Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev, during the signing of 24 irrigation contracts with Irrigation Systems Executive Director Snezhina Dineva, the Agriculture Ministry reported here on Friday.

The total value of the approved project proposals under sub-measure 4.3 "Support for investments in infrastructure related to the development, modernization or adaptation of agriculture and forestry" from 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme amounts to over BGN 112.3 million. The financial assistance provided for the projects is 100%, of which 75% is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and 25% by the national budget.

Minister Vatev explained that the purpose of the investment projects was to ensure the efficient use of water resources through the introduction of new and modern technologies. They will lead to a real reduction of losses and water consumption in agriculture, as well as increase the competitive advantages of the sector in the country.
