National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova spoke with US Ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten on Monday. She expressed her condolences and the condolences of the members of the 51st National Assembly to the families of the US citizens who died during the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
"We are following with deep concern the news about the natural disaster on the territory of the state of California, we sincerely sympathize with the hundreds of thousands of US citizens who are affected by this unprecedented disaster", Kiselova noted, stressing that despite the loss of life, the swift and adequate actions of firefighters and rescue teams prevented an even greater tragedy. "Please convey to the American people our sincere human solidarity and support in these difficult days for the United States", Chair added.
Kiselova expressed gratitude to the director and staff of the Villa Getty Museum, who took all necessary measures to protect the exhibits of the exhibition "Ancient Thrace and the Classical World: Treasures from Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece" from the fires in Los Angeles.
The National Assembly Chair pointed out that her meeting with the American Ambassador in Sofia was a natural continuation of the active political dialogue between Bulgaria and the United States at the highest level. "I am glad that we can discuss the priority issues of our bilateral cooperation and I hope our strategic partnership will continue", Kiselova added, stating that Bulgaria pays particular attention to the development of its cooperation with the US in the areas of security and defence, energy security and diversification, bilateral trade and investment, innovation and green energy, countering hybrid threats and disinformation, as well as the development of people-to-people contacts.
