In January-October 2024, the exports of goods from Bulgaria to the EU amounted to BGN 45,513.9 million, down by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2023. Imports from Member States decreased as well, by 4.5%, and amounted to 46 125.8 million BGN, show preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on Monday.
In January-November 2024, Bulgaria's exports of goods to third countries amounted to BGN 27,664.6 million, which is a decrease of 5.2% year on year, while imports grew by 6.4% to BGN 38,230.4 million.
In October 2024, Bulgaria exported BGN 4,923.6 million worth of goods to the EU, or by 6.8% more compared to the same month of 2023. Imports increased as well, by 3.4%, to BGN 5,308.2 million.
The most notable growth in exports was recorded in the Mineral Fuel, Lubricants and Related Materials section, by 32.2%, while the most significant decrease was observed in the sections Crude Materials, Inedible (Except Fuel) and Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes, by 15.4% each. The largest growth in imports was registered in the Mineral Fuel, Lubricants and Related Materials section, by 70.4%, while the most notable drop was recorded in the Manufactured Goods Classified Chiefly by Material section, by 12.3%.
Bulgarian's main trade partners among Member States were Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece, and France. The largest amounts of goods were imported from Germany, Romania, Italy, Greece, and Poland.
In November 2024, Bulgaria's exports of goods to third countries amounted to BGN 2,231.8 million, down by 17.8% compared to the same month of 2023. Imports went up by 0.2% to reach BGN 3,526.8 million.
The most notable growth in exports was registered in the Chemical and Related Products section, by 10.9%, while the biggest drop was observed in the Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes, by 40.3%. The largest growth in imports was recorded in the Crude Materials, Inedible (except fuel) section, by 26.7%, while the greatest decrease was reported in the Machinery and Transport Equipment section, by 3.5%.
Bulgaria imported the greatest amount of goods from Turkiye, China, Ukraine, and Serbia.
In the January-November 2024 period, the total value of all exported goods to third countries and the EU amounted to BGN 77,837.9 million, which is 3.2% less than the same period of 2023, while the total value of all imported goods from third countries and the EU added up to BGN 89,505.3 million, up by 0.2%.
