The 11th European Forum on Social and Solidarity Economy was unveiled at Sofia’s NDK convention centre on Thursday. Within the framework of the forum there will be an exhibition of products made by social enterprises. The initiative of the National Union of the Worker Producers’ Cooperatives and the Labour Ministry.  

Christmas toys, pottery, jewellery, panels, paintings, and textiles are only part of the exhibits. They are all made by people from vulnerable groups, who have the chance to work at social enterprises across the country. 
“Thanks to our joint efforts with the National Union of Worker Producers’ Cooperatives, this forum became a tradition and established itself as an important event for sharing experiences, for discussions and meetings to outline the priorities for development of the opportunities to provide decent life through employment for the most vulnerable groups in our society,” said Labour Minister Ivanka Shalapatova at the opening of the forum. 

“I am convinced that people with disabilities and those that are disadvantaged, with their specific abilities, are a wealthy resource of the Bulgarian economy,” said Shalapatova.  
Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said: “I am glad that Sofia is hosting this prestigious forum.” She added that the worker producers’ cooperative are part of the real economy of the capital Sofia.  According to her, in addition to generating revenues they aid the inclusion of people with health problems.  

The exhibition will be on until October 8.
