Bulgaria as represented by Sofia Airport's operator, SOF Connect, is hosting the 46th Airports Council International Europe (ACI EUROPE) Economics Committee Meeting. Participating in the two-day forum are economy and finance specialists working in the aviation sector, including managers of airport operators and specialists offering consultancy services.

Speaking at the forum's opening on Thursday, Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Anna Mihneva-Natova expressed support for and commitment to the aviation sector's development. She noted its importance for Bulgaria's development.

Civil Aviation Administration Directorate General Executive Director Aneliya Marinova also addressed the meeting.

SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero said that the company sees this forum as a platform for sharing knowledge and ideas directed at a more sustainable and successful future for Bulgaria's aviation sector.

The Economics Committee is ACI EUROPE's elite club whose members - over 500 airports from 55 countries - provide more than 90% of the air traffic trade in Europe, Sofia Airport said.

Within the forum, Sofia Airport will present its investment plans for development and modernization towards a five-star regional airport offering high-quality services to passengers. Discussions will be held and experience will be shared between representatives of various European airports about the challenges and opportunities for growth and innovation as well as the update of European aviation policies. Presentations will be given on Bulgaria's Dronamics startup and the development of cargo drones, airports' digital transformation and the interest in Bulgaria as a tourist destination.
