site.btaBulgaria and France to Sign Memorandum to Increase Productivity and Market Results of Bulgarian Livestock Breeders

Bulgaria and France will cooperate so that the former can increase productivity and market results for Bulgarian meat and dairy breeders, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev after a meeting with representatives of the French Livestock Institute (IDELE) which took place during the second day of the 32nd edition of the international livestock exhibition Sommet de l'Élevage, which is held in Clermont-Ferrand, France until October 6.

Philippe Amé, Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation at IDELE, has committed to providing financing for this cooperation. Bulgaria will be asked to take on only 10%.

"They are ready to assist us with everything, the programme will be long-term. Within the next two weeks, we should reach a memorandum, a cooperation agreement," Vatev said.

On Monday, at the exhibition, the Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture met with his French Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Marc Fesneau, and the two discussed the topic of Ukraine and the fact that, together with France and Germany, Bulgaria should ask the European Commission to take more urgent measures so that the entire market is not distorted in Europe.

Vatev indicated that Bulgaria is making every effort to ensure "solidarity corridors" so that Ukrainian goods can easily reach the ports of Thessaloniki and Kavala, but its infrastructure is not built to withstand such intense heavy traffic and for this reason it will ask the EC for help to strengthen the infrastructure.

Another topic touched upon in their conversation was about natural disasters and measures taken.
