Bulgaria is proud of the safe, secure and environment-friendly operation of NPP Kozloduy, said Deputy Energy Minister Nikolay Nikolov during the opening of a common stand of the European Commission, Bulgaria and Spain within the framework of the 67th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. The stand was unveiled by Nikolov, Massimo Garribba, Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Energy and Spanish Ambassador to Austria Esther Monterrubio Villar, said the Energy Ministry on Wednesday.

Within the framework of the joint exhibition Bulgaria presents an innovative facility for plasma incineration, which is located at the NPP Kozloduy site and is managed by the State Enterprise Radioactive Waste. The project is the only one of its kind and has a significant contribution to reducing radioactive waste as a result of the decommissioning of the four smaller units of Kozloduy.

Within the framework of the forum Deputy Minister Nikolov held meetings with involved parties: the European Commission Westinghouse, EDF, Framatome, and etc.

Between September 25 and 29 Vienna is hosting the 67th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency. This is the main political forum of the organization at which the 175 member countries adopt the main documents to its operation.
