Handel's oratorio Messiah, parts two and three, will be performed on April 15 in Bulgaria Hall by Sinfonietta Vidin. The concert with the special participation of actress Yoana Bukovska-Davidova is under the patronage of President Rumen Radev, the organizers said.
The event is in memory of Yanko Marinov (1975-2025).
The soloists are Evgenia Ralcheva - soprano, Anna Yankova - alto, Andreya Mirchev - tenor, Valentin Vatev - bass-baritone. The conductor is Peter Dimitrov. Conductor of the Concerto Antico Choir is Yosif Gerdjikov.
Messiah belongs to the most precious examples of sacred music in European culture and occupies a special place in Handel's oeuvre, the organizers said. Composed in the summer of 1741 from biblical texts, it was first performed in Dublin on April 13, 1742 as a charity event. By the time of the composer's death in 1759, Messiah was already one of his best-known works and gradually became an important part of the musical traditions of Christendom.
