Police officers seized cigarettes without excise stamps and goods with logos of protected brands during checks of two Turkish buses near Harmanli, the press centre of the Haskovo Regional Directorate of the Interior said on Monday. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.

Over 5,300 pieces of cigarettes of various brands without excise stamp and more than 2,300 items such as perfumes and shoes bearing logos and labels of protected brands without the permission of the right holder were found in the buses.

In 2024, the Customs Agency detained over 3.6 million counterfeit items, with about 70% carried out at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint.
