Bulgaria begins testing am average speed control system. The tests are being done by the National Toll System jointly with the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology and aim to check the precision of the system before it is put into general use, the Regional Development Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

The procedure will end with an approval of the device to measure average speed.

The system is being tested on a 10.278 km stretch of the Sofia Northern Speed Tangent. 

The start of the testing was attended by Regional Development Minister Ivan Ivanov, the Director of the National Toll Administration Oleg Assenov, and the head of the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology, Paun Ilchev.

Tests will be taken for 500 speeds in different weather conditions and different parts of day and night. 

The devices that will be used will be assessed for precision by the Metrology Institute.
