Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova Tuesday received the letters of credence of the newly appointed Italian Ambassador in Sofia, Marcello Apicella, the Foreign Ministry said.

During the conversation, the sides expressed satisfaction with the long-standing friendly relations and the intensive cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of areas. Italy's role as one of Bulgaria's leading trading partners was acknowledged, alongside a readiness to further strengthen the bilateral political, economic and cultural ties.

Deputy Minister Shekerletova wished Ambassador Apicella a successful mission in Bulgaria and expressed confidence that his work would contribute to enhancing the partnership with Italy in all areas of mutual interest.
