Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev has visited a sports hall in Sofia’s Orlandovtsi neighborhood, where some of the top Bulgarian athletes with intellectual disabilities train daily. These young people are inspired and determined to assert their place in the world of sport and serve as an example of perseverance and human strength, the Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (FAPA) wrote on Facebook.
The athletes have been representing this country on the international stage for more than a decade, achieving impressive results. Under the leadership of FAPA President Slav Petkov, they do not just train, they grow, prove themselves, and send a message that anyone can succeed with opportunity and support.
The President met with the athletes and praised their efforts and achievements. He stressed the importance of recognizing such examples, not just for the medals they have earned but also for the journey they have made to get there.
"Your presence in Bulgarian sport is an inspiration. What you achieve matters, and it deserves our appreciation," President Radev said.
FAPA President Petkov said that "our athletes deserve respect, equal chance and recognition". "They give their best every day. When public support is added to this, the opportunities are even greater".
"When we see them for who they are - inspiring, hardworking, talented - we begin to build a more compassionate and fair society," the Federation’s post added.
