Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov met with representatives of German companies, members of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBCIC), the Ministry said here on Tuesday. At the meeting it became known that, according to the Bulgarian National Bank, the total German investments in Bulgaria amounted to over EUR 4 billion by December 2024. The meeting was attended by GBCIC President Tim Kurth, GBCIC General Manager Sonia Miklai and representatives of German business in Bulgaria.

"We strive to implement policies to support investors and to ensure a transparent and stable business environment. We are working to preserve economic and financial stability in the country, to increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy and to stimulate investment," the Minister said.

"Proof of the importance of Germany as a leading foreign economic partner of Bulgaria is the accelerated growth rates of trade in goods, as well as the strong presence of German companies operating on the Bulgarian market and doing business in Bulgaria," Dilov said.

He pointed out that German companies are reliable investors as they are committed for the long term. In his words, Bulgaria's Schengen membership and the upcoming accession of Bulgaria to the euro area, which is being actively pursued, are important factors that will contribute to further facilitating trade ties and investment exchanges between the two countries.

A number of issues were discussed related to easing regimes and administrative burdens for business, predictability and impact assessment when introducing new legislative initiatives, the labour market and finding qualified staff, as well as the cost of electricity for industry to ensure the competitiveness of the economy.

Dilov assured the German business representatives that they can rely on the Ministry.
