President Rumen Radev visited the Sergey Rumyantsev 58th Primary School in Sofia on Tuesday, the press office of the head of State reported. Teachers and students festively marked the 110th anniversary of the school. The students joined the Play a Sport with the President initiative, which was organized on the occasion.

The students took part in different athletic disciplines, physical activity and exercises, part of a “Presidential test”. The programme was made to promote the physical activity of Bulgarian children through extracurricular sports activities and alternative forms of physical education.

Before the solemn celebration of the anniversary, the head of State toured the classrooms and the ethnographic museum of the school. “Together with the modern forms and methods of education that are constantly implemented, the school preserves and enriches tradition, it maintains the foundations of the Bulgarian spirit, spirituality and education,” President Radev said in his address. He gave a high mark to the efforts of the school’s management, the teachers and the board of trustees.

The head of State awarded the school with the Presidential Badge of Honour. The award is for accomplishments in the development of the Bulgarian education system, school activities and on the occasion of the school's 110th anniversary.

On behalf of the school, Director Kostadin Mustaykov presented the President with a plaque, as an expression of gratitude for the contribution to the development of the students' physical activity. "We believe that through initiatives such as Play a Sport with the President, we can build a healthier and more united society, ready to meet the challenges of the future," Mustaykov said.
