The Continue the Change (CC) party declared readiness to initiate a vote of no confidence in the government due to its refusal to fight corruption, if the laws under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) are not adopted by the end of June and if the corruption risks are realised, stated the party in a position published on its Facebook page.
"We give the ruling party until the end of June to adopt the RRP laws. If we see that these laws are not adopted, that the corruption risks are realised, that Peevski continues to govern in this government and all regulators are elected under his dictation, on the first day after the date when we receive a decision on the eurozone, we will initiate a vote of no confidence in this government due to its refusal to fight corruption," CC stated.
The next three months are crucial for Bulgaria, CC said and stressed that they will not compromise with either corruption or the European development of the country.
The party's position notes that last week the ruling majority adopted "the most inflated budget in the recent history of Bulgaria, with a debt of BGN 19 billion, instead of the necessary BGN 12 billion”, and points out that BGN 7 billion will be “poured into state-owned companies to be spent without accountability and transparency”.
The CC also noted that the coalition partners GERB-UDF, BSP-United Left and There is Such a People have clearly betrayed their own promise of a cordon sanitaire around Delyan Peevski’s party MRF-New Beginning, by helping to elect a constitutional judge, nominated by Peevski and elected with the votes of his party.
The position also stated: “Bulgaria faces the following huge challenges: We must urgently adopt the laws on the second payment under the RRP, the rules for the Anti-corruption Commission, a law on whistleblowers, a law on personal bankruptcy. Without these laws, Bulgaria will lose billions of BGN, which are also included in the adopted budget. If the laws are not adopted and the funds pledged under the RRP are not received, the implementation of the 3% deficit needed for the eurozone will be seriously threatened”.
