Five Bulgarian ceramists have been approved to participate in a residency programme at the Taoxichuan Art Centre Creative Studio in the Chinese city of Jingdezhen, the National Arts and Crafts Fair in the Troyan village of Oreshak said on their website on Sunday.

Among the five who receive full funding are ceramists from Sofia, Pleven, Dobrich and Troyan. They will receive a creative scholarship of up to CNY 6,000 (BGN 1,500) covering the necessary materials for work during the stay, as well as assistants, 3D printing, and more. The Taoxichuan Art Centre will cover travel expenses to and from the city of Jingdezhen, as well as all accommodation during the stay. Visa issuance, travel insurance and additional materials outside the scholarship are at the expense of the participants.

The artists will also be able to use the equipped studio and work space during their stay in China, and each participant will have to provide the Taoxichuan Art Centre with three of their works created during the stay.

In December 2024, Troyan and Jingdezhen signed a residency programme for ceramicists and artists, after which the National Arts and Crafts Fair announced a procedure for selecting the first artists to participate in the field of artistic ceramics. A total of 14 ceramists from across the country submitted documents for participation, which were sent to the Taoxichuan Art Centre for approval.
