There are options for the reinstatement of the parliamentary group of MECh and they should be used, Bozhidar Bozhanov, MP and deputy floor leader Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) group, told journalists on Tuesday. He recalled that this has been the position of his political formation since last week.
“We consider it unfair for a parliamentary group to be dissolved only for technical reasons that someone could not take the oath of office within a certain timeframe,” Bozhanov said.
Asked by journalists whether their political formation was willing to support a possible change to the parliamentary rules of procedure, as one of the possible options outlined by Chair Nataliya Kiselova, Bozhanov said, "Let's see the specifics that Ms Kiselova has proposed."
On March 21, at the end of the 22-hour session at which the MPs adopted conclusively the state budget for 2025, Nataliya Kiselova announced that the parliamentary group of the MECh party ceased to exist. According to parliamentary rules, the minimum number of MPs to form a parliamentary group is ten. MECh deputies remained nine after Parliament terminated the mandate of Samuil Slavov after his resignation.
Earlier in the day, There is Such a People announced that it had submitted a draft resolution to reinstate the MECh parliamentary group. The GERB-UDF supported the draft resolution.
