The St Kliment Ohridski of Sofia University has been ranked for the first time in four subjects of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, getting an overall rank of 661-670. The 2025 edition was presented on Wednesday, Sofia University said in a press release.
The Bulgarian university improves its position in the Arts and Humanities subject area, dropping to 255th place.
For the third consecutive year, Sofia University is ranked in the Theology subject within the Arts and Humanities subject area, at 51-100 in the ranking.
For the first time, Sofia University is ranked in the Computer Science subject within the Engineering and Technology subject area, at 751-850.
The Bulgarian University is also ranked in Physics and Astronomy within the Natural Sciences subject area, at 601-675.
The OS team analyses the reputation and scientific research of 5,203 academic institutions, ranking 1,746 of them. QS World University Rankings by Subject provides an independent comparative analysis of their performance in 55 individual subjects across five broad subject areas based on various ranking criteria, such as academic reputation, employer reputation, citations, and international research network.
