Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Atanas Atanassov commented Wednesday on Parliament's declaration of "deep concern about the progress of the constitutional case challenging the legality of the elections for the 51st National Assembly". "I am ashamed of what happened in plenary today because the National Assembly gave birth to a stillborn with this misguided declaration," he said.

In a declaration presented by Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova, the legislature called on the Constitutional Court, the Central Election Commission (CEC), and election service provider Information Services to make public all documents related to the dispute over the election results. The declaration states that "someone is deliberately neglecting their duties". A total of 128 deputies in the 240-seat Parliament voted "for" the text, 53 voted "against," and 11 deputies abstained.

Atanassov noted that the item for the declaration was put on the agenda of the parliament by a letter from Kiselova to herself. Atanassov also pointed out that while the National Assembly was hearing the experts appointed and involved in a constitutional case concerning a challenge to the legality of the elections to the 51st National Assembly, Parliament had already issued a declaration that the Constitutional Court had not done its job.

This is an unprecedented, shameful act of interference by the highest organ of state power in the work of the Constitutional Court while the National Assembly is in conflict of interest, said CC-DB MP Yordan Ivanov. This is a text that is written with the language skills of a second-grader, full of punctuation errors, and the majority refused to correct it and voted it this way, he said, adding that they also have a problem with the terms that are used, such as "invalid ballots," which is not a legally defined term. It is full of illiteracy and false facts.

The expert conclusions are published after the conclusion of the case, said the Constitutional Court (CC) and recalled that this is written in the rules of organization and work of the institution. The announcement was made on the occasion of the case of the elections to the 51st Parliament. The requests received are published on the website of the court after the case is opened, the opinions and legal opinions - after their receipt. Legal opinions are not published if the author expressly disagrees, the CC also reminded.
