Each group of experts consists of one lawyer and one mathematician and has counted an average of 43-44,000 ballots, said on Wednesday Rumyana Siderova, one of the experts appointed by the Constitutional Court (CC) to recount the ballots from the October 27, 2024 parliamentary elections.

Parliament held a hearing of experts appointed and involved in a constitutional case challenging the legality of the parliamentary elections.

Siderova pointed out that there are no special rules for counting because the rules are stated in the Electoral Code itself. It defines how the votes are counted - as valid or invalid.

Each group was assigned to a separate room and had one assistant, Siderova explained. There, they were given the sacks.

The sacks were opened in the presence of the two experts and the assistant. In addition to counting the ballot papers, we had to examine the condition of the sacks, check whether they contained the necessary paperwork and assess whether there were any irregularities in the vote counting, Siderova explained.
