The European Commission announced that it is providing an additional EUR 30 million for projects aimed at enhancing the security of public spaces across the EU and globally.

The funding, sourced from the EU Internal Security Fund, will be allocated to 13 projects focused on securing shopping centres, public transport, entertainment venues, and places of worship. Beneficiaries will include government authorities, security agencies, research institutes, and private companies.

According to the Commission, the projects are expected to be implemented in the coming months as part of broader efforts to counter terrorism. Priority will be given to initiatives aimed at preventing arms trafficking, combating the illegal use of drones, and protecting against biological, chemical, radiological, and nuclear threats.
