Sports Minister Ivan Peshev presented honorary plaques to the Bulgarian medalists from the European MMA Championships, which took place in February in Belgrade, the Ministry said in a press release here on Wednesday.

"I am glad to welcome you here today on such a joyous occasion. The awards and medals won by you are a matter of pride for our country. When you succeed at such a big forum as the European Championships, with such a large competition - over 1000 athletes from 48 countries - you certainly feel a sense of satisfaction and realize that the tireless training and efforts have been worth it," said Minister Peshev during the meeting.

Bulgaria won a total of 17 medals in different age groups.  The coaches were also awarded.

"I also congratulate the leadership of the Bulgarian MMA Federation and the coaches for their perseverance and dedicated work for the development of this sport in our country. I wish you to continue on the same path, to work hard in the gym, to be disciplined and to bring glory to Bulgaria's name," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
