Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Kiril Petkov has consented in writing to be criminally prosecuted, National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova said on Wednesday, referring to a request received from acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.
The National Assembly Chair has notified Sarafov of Petkov's decision.
On February 28, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov asked Parliament to strip of immunity two ranking MPs of CC–DB: Kiril Petkov and Bozhidar Bozhanov so that they could be prosecuted for malfeasance in office and coercion. Petkov is accused of pressuring then Electronic Governance Minister Alexander Yolov (2023) into consulting Bozhidar Bozhanov about all dismissals of staffers hired by Bozhanov, all strategic matters and public procurements.
