A Russian drone attack on various parts of the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Monday caused damage to private buildings and warehouses spanning over 2,780 square metres, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov reported via the Telegram app.
Also on Telegram, Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper said that the attack triggered fires in a private residential building, a toy warehouse, and a fuel storage tank.
According to the State Emergency Service of the Odesa region, more than 100 rescuers, volunteers, and firefighters from Ukraine’s National Guard, as well as municipal fire brigades, worked to contain the aftermath of the overnight Russian attack.
Odesa Province is home to the third largest community of expatriate Bulgarians, numbering more than 150,000 people, according to an official population census in Ukraine in 2001. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the provincial capital Odesa. Bulgarians in the province are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
