site.btaDRF - MRF May Withdraw Support for Parliamentary Majority if Crack-down on Their Members Continues

If the repressions against members of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - MRF (DRF - MRF) do not stop, the parliamentary group will reconsider its support of the parliamentary majority, Floor Leader Dzhevdet Chakarov said in Haskovo on Tuesday.
He visited the town to support a protest against the detention of Mineralni Bani Mayor Myumyun Iskender. DRF - MRF members and supporters from all over the country gathered in Haskovo to express solidarity with Iskender, who is under house arrest after being detained on September 20, 2024 on charges of misuse of EU funds.
In Chakarov's words, DRF "pleads for the dismantling of the Peevski model" in the country, beginning with the suspension of appointments, "who are then used as bludgeons against people and party representatives".
"Otherwise, this will be a very serious red line for us, which we will not allow to be crossed and if this continues, we will seriously reconsider our support for the parliamentary majority," Chakarov stressed.
