Foreign Affairs Minister Georg Georgiev Friday met with Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria Iwan Bogananta and presented him with the Foreign Ministry's highest award, the Golden Laurel Branch, on the occasion of the Ambassador's term in office ending and for his contribution to the bilateral ties' development, the Ministry reported.
Bogananta took office in January 2021. With his active support in the last four years, the bilateral high-level political dialogue continued through meetings between the foreign ministers and the parliaments of Bulgaria and Indonesia.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Minister Georgiev said that during Bogananta's term in office, the bilateral trade was active, new partnerships were established between business representatives from the two countries, and the cooperation in culture and education as well as the contacts between the people continued to broaden.
Indonesia is an important partner for Bulgaria in the dynamic region of Southeast Asia, the press release reads. The bilateral ties are long-standing and friendly; in 2021, Bulgaria and Indonesia marked 65 years since the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
