Todor Tachev, a student of military medicine in the seaside city of Varna who has earned the maximum total grade of 6 for his academic performance, was named Student of the Year 2024 in a nationwide poll conducted by the National Assembly of Students' Councils (NASC).

Since 2022, Tachev has attended a dual course in military medicine, with studies split between the Varna Medical University and the Naval Academy. He received the award from Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a ceremony at the Rakovski National Defence College in Sofia Friday. NASC organized the event together with the Ministry of Education and Science under the Prime Minister's auspices.

Zhelyazkov said: "I am pleased to head a government which has adopted an ambitious four-year programme. Many of the consistent policies set out in the programme are aimed mainly at making your work as students and the work of your professors a decent shared experience."
