The second helicopter to provide emergency medical assistance by air landed in Bulgaria on Friday, the Health Ministry press centre said.

It will be deployed at the HEMS regional base in Sliven. The eight air medical teams that will work there, consisting of 9 doctors and 8 nurses, have already been formed. The teams have undergone the mandatory training as well as the necessary examinations according to the requirements for European Union Aviation Safety Agency Class 2.

The first airborne mission in Bulgaria was realized in early June 2024. So far, the teams of the emergency air medical service have completed a total of 49 missions, with six completed since the beginning of the year.

According to preliminary data from the Italian company Leonardo S.p.A., the third helicopter will be delivered to the country by the end of March 2025, the announcement said.
