site.btaBulgarian Community in Moldova Receives Donation of Five Buses from Varna Municipality


Five Mercedes buses were donated to the Bulgarian Municipality in Moldova by Varna Municipality through the Association of Bulgarians around the World (ABC), the administration of Varna's Mladost borough said on its website Friday. The head of the World Parliament of Bulgarians with the ABC and Mladost Mayor, Hristo Hristov, expressed gratitude to Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev for the donation as well as to Ivan Benev, owner of the Benita gas station chain, which provided the fuel for the buses' transportation to Moldova.
Efforts for the donation were also made by Bulgarian Municipality in Moldova head Georgi Barbarov and ABC Chair Mladen Stanev, it transpires from the press release.
The buses will be used to transport pupils and cultural groups in the regions of Taraclia, Kantemir and the village of Parcani. The goal is to support the efforts of cultural, social, and sports events while also strengthening the connections between the two countries' institutions.
According to data of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, in 2014 there were around 54,000 ethnic Bulgarians in Moldova, which constitute 1.9% of the country's population of 2,804,801 people. The biggest number of ethnic Bulgarians leave in Taraclia Region.
