site.btaChief Commissioner Zahari Vaskov Appointed Director of National Police General Directorate

Chief Commissioner Zahari Vaskov has been appointed Director of the National Police General Directorate (NPGD) by order of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, effective February 28, 2025, Mitov's Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

Vaskov, who was so far Deputy Director of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.

The new director was introduced to the NPGD personnel by Deputy Interior Minister Lyubomir Yosifov, who said that the Ministry's political and professional leadership expects the General Directorate to remain an essential unit in the Ministry, staking on continuity and building on previous achievements.

Chief Commissioner Vaskov thanked for being entrusted with heading the Directorate and said he was ready to keep working actively on the Ministry's and the Government's priorities.

Vaskov is taking over from Chief Commissioner Miroslav Rashkov, who was appointed Secretary General of the Interior Ministry by Mitov's order dated February 20, 2025.
