Bulgarian and Polish delegations considered the opportunities for deepening trade and economic cooperation, including the areas of greatest interest for investment on both the Polish and Bulgarian sides, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its website. Political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries were held on Friday at the Bulgarian ministry at the deputy minister level.

The Bulgarian delegation was led by Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova and the Polish delegation by Deputy Minister Marek Prawda. Topics on the bilateral, European and wider agenda were discussed.

The two deputy ministers focused on various aspects of security and defence, EU enlargement policy, regional cooperation, migration, among others.

The two sides maintained their consistent support for the European future of the Eastern Neighbourhood and the Western Balkans, based on the guiding principle of own merits and individual progress in meeting the criteria and conditionalities of the process, the Foreign Ministry said.

Poland assumed the transitional presidency of the EU Council from January 1 until the end of July 2025. The country is holding the presidency for the second time since joining the EU.
