Five landmark sites in four states on the west coast of the United States will be illuminated in the colours of the Bulgarian flag on the occasion of Bulgaria's national holiday, March 3, the Bulgarian Consulate General in Los Angeles announced on its Facebook page.
The diplomatic mission informed that in honour of Bulgaria's national holiday for the fourth consecutive year landmarks in the consular district will be illuminated in white, green and red, the colours of the Bulgarian national flag.
The initiative, which was launched in 2022 by Consul General Boyko Hristov, began with the illumination of the City Hall in Los Angeles and each year covers more cities and states on the West Coast.
This year, the following sites will be illuminated:
- Los Angeles City Hall (for the fourth year in a row);
- Phoenix City Hall, Arizona (traditional participation);
- The Morrison Bridge in Portland, Oregon;
- Santa Fe City Hall, New Mexico (for the first time);
- San Jose City Hall, California (for the first time; will be illuminated for 7 days, from March 3 to 10.
"Our goal is not only to commemorate this important day for Bulgarian history, but also to highlight the strong ties of friendship, partnership and cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States," notes the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles.
By an official proclamation of the Mayor and the City Council of Beverly Hills, the national holiday of March 3 was declared "Friendship Day between Bulgaria and the USA".
