site.btaTurkish Truck Driver Arrested for Attempting to Bribe Police Officers in Harmanli

A Turkish truck driver was detained for 24 hours near Harmanli (South-Central Bulgaria) for attempting to bribe police officers, said the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Haskovo on Monday.

The 68-year-old driver of a cargo truck was stopped by two inspectors on Sunday, who detected that the vehicle was without the mandatory lights turned on, and its driver was not wearing a seat belt. While they were issuing a fine, the driver dropped a 50-euro banknote through the open window of the police officer's official car.

The driver was arrested and an expedited investigation has been initiated into the case.
