Bulgarian Ski Federation (BSF) President Tseko Minev said that Bansko is very close to becoming a permanent part of the men's Alpine Skiing World Cup calendar.

Minev was speaking at a press conference after the end of the FIS Snowboard World Cup competitions in Bansko, which ended with one third, one fourth and one fifth place for the Bulgarian athletes, and the race was held under excellent conditions and organization.

"A very emotional day, full of twists and turns, as it turned out in the end. We are all very happy because, as always, the organization was top notch. I think that the FIS is now thinking of taking this as the highest criterion in running a competition in alpine snowboarding and everywhere to implement everything that is done here in Bansko. In this way Bulgaria consolidates itself as one of the best organizers of world cups in winter sports. I think it is the same in alpine skiing, which also happens here quite often. In this regard, I would like to say that what has been agreed in FIS for the long-term calendars is that after 2027 there will be a centralisation of media rights in FIS and Bulgaria with Bansko will have a secure men's giant slalom every other year until 2034. This can only make us happy because it shows that we have entered the family of the best," said Minev, who is also a businessman and a banker.
