Threats against the life of anyone are unacceptable in Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev Thursday said on the occasion of information about death threats against Military Police Director Brigadier General Ivaylo Sotirov. Radev answered journalists' questions during his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"I think that all the competent authorities here will react immediately and will stop any such attempts of threats because this does not speak well for us," the Head of State further said.

Asked whether these possible threats could be related to the investigation into the crash of an L-39 ZA fighter jet at Graf Ignatievo airbase, Radev said, "I rule out such links."

Earlier on Thursday, the Defence Ministry told BTA that the military department had not received any information related to a threat to the life of the director of the Military Police Service, Brigadier General Ivaylo Sotirov. The Ministry was contacted about information published in the media, according to which a threat was made against the life of Sotirov.

On October 15, the Defence Ministry disclosed information from the investigation of the crash, saying that the main cause of the crash of the L-39ZA combat trainer was the taking of an unjustifiably high risk when performing complex aerial aerobatics. On October 16, the Prosecution Office urged the Defence Ministry to not disseminate any information as it is in violation of the Criminal Procedure Code.
