The European Congress of Neurosurgery was opened at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) congress centre in Sofia on Sunday. Bulgaria is hosting the forum for the first time. The event is taking place between October 13 and 17. Its programme includes dozens of sessions dedicated to technological advances, innovative treatments, and new research on the human brain and the nervous system.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Bulgarian Society of Neurosurgery (BSN) Chair Prof. Nikolay Gabrovski said that the congress is attended by over 1,675 participants and over 370 speakers. "We decided to go beyond the focus on neurosurgery and invite high-tech experts and successful investors," he said. "In this session, we will have the opportunity to meet people who have made a real revolution in the field of new perspectives in neurosurgery," he explained.
The motto of the Congress in 2024 is "Innovation. Education. Leadership."
Attending the event, Parliament Chair Raya Nazaryan pointed out that the forum has brought together the best neurosurgery minds in Europe. In her words, hosting this prestigious event is a great success for Bulgaria.
EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova also attended the opening ceremony.
