Institutions should work more effectively to make citizens feel their presence, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at the start of Friday's meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Glavchev recalled that he and Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov attended the UN Summit of the Future in New York on September 22 and 23, and that the topic was raised as early as 2021 by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He added that the Summit’ working title was "Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow", and it was aimed at bringing global institutions in line with realities so they can act more effectively to solve people's problems. The meeting discussed specific proposals to bring the UN Security Council in line with realities, Glavchev said.

Glavchev recalled that Bulgarian President Rumen Radev participated in the UN General Assembly and is still in New York, which shows Bulgaria's serious attitude towards international issues. "We can transfer this topic to Bulgaria - more effective work of the institutions so that the citizens feel their presence. Recently, there have been talks that the state is absent, but it depends on all of us if the state is absent. People do not distinguish who has not done their job and that is why we must act together," Glavchev noted.
