Within the outgoing Government's report on its activity on Friday, outgoing Transport and Communication Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov said that his Ministry prioritizes the modernization of the railway transport and the development of Bulgaria's emergency air medical service. "Yes, that is a long process, but we have started the initial steps. The close task into which we should put maximum efforts is the finalization of the public procurement procedures for the delivery of rolling stock and the signing of contracts. This is a project funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. That would be felt the most by the people, because the [railway] transport has huge potential: innovative and environmentally friendly," Gvozdeikov noted.
The Government's goal is to have three working operating bases for air ambulances by the end of 2024, he went on to say. A programme and plan for training pilots are being developed, and an organization will be created for their training by mid-2024, thus creating an opportunity to provide the necessary capacity of human resources in this important task.
