The labour market continued to show positive dynamics in March, the Employment Agency reported in a press release on Tuesday. The declared vacancies on the primary market reached 20,151, with the largest share of them in the sectors of Hotel and restaurant services (23.4%), Manufacturing (17.6%), Trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (13.9%), Public administration (8.6%), Agriculture, forestry and fisheries (5.8%) and Creation and dissemination of information and creative products; telecommunications (4.9%).
Among the most sought-after professions during the month were: salespeople, drivers, workers in industry and construction, cleaners, machine operators, staff in the field of social services, etc.
In March, 16,779 unemployed people started work, and with the help of employment agencies, 452 employed people, students and pensioners also found employment.
Under the subsidized employment programme, 2,823 people from vulnerable groups started work, 2,756 of them under projects from the Human Resources Development Programme 2021-2027, co-financed by the EU.
Efforts to engage inactive people continued successfully, Over 7,700 people were motivated to join the labour market, thanks to the work of Roma and youth mediators and teams in labour offices.
At the end of March, the number of registered unemployed persons in the country was 156,335, and the registered unemployment rate was 5.5%. Compared to the same month in 2024, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points was reported. [The unemployment rate is defined as the share of registered unemployed persons in the economically active population aged 15-64, as determined by the 2021 Census.]
Over 15,300 training vouchers were issued during the month, intended for both employed and unemployed persons. This measure is another step towards improving the qualifications and competitiveness of the workforce, the statement said.
